What if I told you that everything you knew about this ominous number was wrong? It isn't evil or dangerous. And it's far from unlucky.
Friday the 13th was a pagan celebration that honored the Divine Feminine. Particularly Frigg, the goddess of marriage, motherhood, fertility and all things femme. This number was not chosen arbitrarily. It represented the changing of the Moon, which occurs 13 times per year in 28 day cycles. Just like something else entirely femme: periods.
It was meant to be a day of girlie empowerment and reflection. Typically spent writing, dancing, connecting with nature and performing self-care rituals under the moonlight. There is some debate as to why this day fell from grace, but basically the church said "Women...ew" and deemed it unholy to honor any preternatural entity other than God and JC himself.
So, next time you see Friday the 13th creeping up on the calendar, do not fear. Gather your crystals, a journal and your besties to go tits out under the Moonlight. Honor the ancestors. Be the change.
